Tip-up vs. Slider:
One of the two biggest debates on RV’s ever (tailwheel vs. tri-gear being the other). The choice a builder make between building a tip-up canopy or a slider… I’ll start with the obvious. The slider DOES look alot “cooler” than the tip-up. There is just something about taxing around with the canopy slid back and your arm resting on the side of the frame. The downfall however, is the obstruction of view from the rollbar directly in-front of your forehead. Some say this style is much safer as a result of the rollbar being in front. The tip-up however, has a much larger rollbar located directly behind your head… I have heard some say it is stronger than the slider’s rollbar, and vice versa. The most obvious advantage of the tip-up is the visibility… only one word really describes it: AWESOME. And even that doesn’t quite do justice. While I have never flown in a slider, I did get a chance to ride in a tip-up, and the sight was more than enough to “sell me” on the tip-up!
